US Embassy Single Status

May 2, 2019 by admin

Are you in another country and need  an apostille on your Single Status?

Have you contacted the local U.S. Embassy office for information on how to obtain a single status?  For a list of U.S. Embassies and U.S. Consulates around the world, click here: US Embassy

A U.S. Embassy will typically refer to this document as:

  • Affidavit of Civil Status
  • Eligibility to Marry
  • Single Status

Please note that you will need to make an appointment to meet with an official from the U.S. Embassy.  A U.S. Federal notary public will need to be present to take your oath and notarize your signature on the document.

Once notarized, the next step is to mail in the original notarized copy with our Washington DC order forms to our Washington DC apostille office.  Once we receive your documents at our office, the processing time is four business days.

If the U.S. Embassy is unable to assist you, you can contact the County Clerk in the County of your last residence.  County Clerk offices typically refer to this document as:

  • No Record of Marriage
  • Certificate of Freedom to Marry
  • Certificate of No Impediment for Marriage
  • Certificate of No Record – Marriage
  • Affidavit of Single Status
  • Affidavit of Marriageability
  • Certificate of No Public Record

Here is an example of a single status affidavit issued from a U.S. Embassy:

Obtaining an apostille can be complicated. Don’t leave this process to untrained employees or non-professionals who do not fully understand the Apostille process and the unique requirements of certain countries. Marriage Certificate Apostille

April 12, 2019 by admin

Do you need to apostille your Marriage Certificate?  Were you married in the United States and need to register your wedding in another country?

In order to apostille your marriage certificate, you will need to mail in the original or County Clerk certified copy with our order forms.

At National Apostille Inc., we take the guesswork out of getting an apostille on your marriage certificate.  Our trained and knowledgeable staff are available Monday – Saturday from 8am to 7pm to answer your questions and provide you easy to follow step-by-step instructions.

Common reasons why another country would request an Apostille on a Marriage Certificate are:

  • Registering your marriage in another country
  • Dual Citizenship
  • Death of Spouse
  • Interest & Ownership in Property
  • Inheritance

Marriage certificates can only be processed through the state of origin.  For example, if you were married in California, then your certificate can only receive the California apostille.  If you were married in New York, then your marriage certificate can only receive a New York apostille.  The document is processed from the state of origin.

In order for your marriage certificate to receive an apostille, the country must be a member of the Hague Apostille Convention.

Obtaining an apostille can be complicated. Don’t leave this process to untrained employees or non-professionals who do not fully understand the apostille process and the unique requirements of certain countries. US Embassy Apostille

April 8, 2019 by admin

Are you in a foreign country and need to visit the local U.S. Embassy or U.S. Consulate office to apostille your documents?

A U.S. Embassy or U.S. Consulate office located outside of the USA can assist you with notarizing your documents but not the apostille.  For example, you can visit the local U.S. Embassy or U.S. Consulate office to sign and notarize your documents with a U.S. Federal notary public.  They can also assist you in creating a single status affidavit if you are planning to get married in the country you are in.

At some U.S. Embassies, the staff can also assist you with obtaining an FBI background check apostille.  They can help you roll your fingerprints for the FBI Channeler or the FBI directly.

Remember, a U.S. Embassy or U.S. Consulate does not issue apostilles. The apostille will be issued through the U.S. Department of State – Office of Authentication in Washington, D.C.

We can assist you with documents signed and notarized at a U.S. Embassy or U.S. Consulate office and for countries other than the USA.  For example, if you are a U.S. Citizen in Russia and need to sign and notarize documents for the Netherlands, you can visit the local U.S. Embassy or U.S. Consulate office and have your documents signed and notarized there.  Once notarized, you can mail in these original documents to our Washington DC apostille office so we can obtain the apostille.

In addition to obtaining apostilles from the U.S. Federal government, we can also obtain apostilles from all 50 US states. USA Apostille

US Residency Certificate Apostille – IRS Form 8802 / 6166

March 28, 2019 by admin

Do you need an apostille on your U.S. Residency Certificate IRS Form 8802 / 6166?

At National Apostille Inc., we take the guesswork out of getting an apostille on your IRS documents.  Our trained and knowledgeable staff are available Monday – Saturday from 8am to 7pm to answer your questions and provide you easy to follow step-by-step instructions.

Form 8802, Application for United States Residency Certification is used to request a certificate of residency, Form 6166, that residents of the United States may need to claim income tax treaty benefits and certain other tax benefits in Hague Apostille Countries.

U.S. treaty partners require the IRS to certify that the company or person claiming treaty benefits is a resident of the United States for the federal tax purposes. The IRS provides this residency certification on Form 6166.  This letter is typically referred to U.S. Residency Certification.

Form 6166 is a letter printed on U.S. Department of Treasury stationary certifying that the company or person is a resident of the United States for purposes of income tax laws of the United States. You may use this form to claim income tax treaty benefits and certain other tax benefits in foreign countries.

Here is an example of IRS Form 6166:

If you are planning to teach in a country who has a tax treaty with the United States, you can possibly avoid being taxed twice.  We recommend that you contact the IRS to know if the country has a tax treaty with the United States.

Many business set up representation in foreign countries in order to conduct business in that country.  If the country has a tax treaty with the United States, the individual or company must provide proof to the foreign government in order to qualify for the reduced tax rate.  Form 6166 is also used to claim exemption from a VAT (Value Added Tax) imposed by a foreign country.

Tax treaties may allow residents of foreign countries to be taxed at a reduced rate.  This helps prevent double taxation or a reduction in taxes owed.

In order to obtain an apostille on Form 6166, you must first obtain this document by completing form 8802.  It is estimated that you will receive this form in a few weeks from the IRS.  Once you have received the form printed on the Department of Treasury stationary, you can then mail-in this letter to our Washington, D.C. office for processing through the U.S. Department of State.  Our processing time is four business days and we do provide FedEx 1-2 day return service.

National Apostille, Inc. is the leader in document certification, legalization, attestation, and apostille services.

Apostilles can be complicated. Don’t leave this process to untrained employees or non-professionals who do not fully understand the Apostille process and the unique requirements of certain countries. Your paperwork could be rejected costing you time and money. Don’t let this happen to you!

Our staff is available Monday-Saturday from 8am to 7pm to answer your questions and provide you easy to follow-step-by-step instructions.  Please call us at 1-800-903-2470 or email: support@nationalapostille.com
